PCDS study method
- Recall prerequisite ideas and definitions.
- Study one visual or real-life representation of the concept.
- Work through a model example with reasoning shown.

Original worked example
Balance H₂ + O₂ → H₂O.
Step 1: Start with oxygen: put 2 before H₂O
Step 2: Now H on right=4, put 2 before H₂
Answer: 2H₂ + O₂ → 2H₂O
What an expert tutor should check
A good tutor should verify whether the student can explain the method in their own words, apply it to a changed question, and identify common traps—not merely copy the worked steps.
